BCPG Wins Thailand Green Innovation of the Year Award for Smart District Cooling Project, Advancing Sustainable Low-Carbon Cities

BCPG Public Company Limited (BCPG) has been recognized with the Thailand Green Innovation of the Year – Energy award for its Prathumwan Smart District Cooling (PSDC) project at the Asian Innovation Excellence Awards 2026, organized by Asian Business Review in Singapore. The award highlights BCPG’s commitment to developing clean energy innovations and smart infrastructure that support sustainable urban growth.

Charnvit Trangadisaikul, Chief Investment Officer, accepted the award on behalf of the company at the ceremony held at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Singapore.

The Prathumwan Smart District Cooling project is a joint venture between BCPG and the infrastructure business of Keppel Ltd. It aims to transform conventional building-based cooling systems into a Smart District Energy Infrastructure through a centralized District Cooling System (DCS). The system is designed to efficiently supply chilled water to multiple connected buildings, including office, retail, and residential developments within the Samyan Smart City area.

The project is planned to accommodate a total cooling capacity of up to 18,000 refrigeration tons, with an initial installation of 3,000 refrigeration tons to support future expansion. The centralized approach helps reduce equipment redundancy while enhancing overall energy efficiency.

At the core of the project is the integration of high-efficiency Magnetic Bearing Centrifugal Chiller technology, Variable Speed Drive (VSD) systems, and an advanced Energy Management System (EMS). These technologies enable real-time monitoring, analysis, and optimization of operations, ensuring cooling production and distribution are aligned with actual demand while maximizing energy performance.

Through its innovative design and advanced technologies, the project is expected to reduce energy consumption by approximately 30% compared with conventional cooling systems. Upon full development, it is projected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 15,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent per year. The system is also designed to accommodate future Thermal Energy Storage (TES) integration, helping reduce peak electricity demand and enhance energy management flexibility.

This prestigious recognition underscores BCPG’s capability in delivering intelligent energy solutions that combine innovation, technology, and sustainability. It also reinforces the potential of the Prathumwan Smart District Cooling project as a scalable model for future district energy infrastructure in business districts, universities, airports, and large-scale urban developments, supporting the transition toward a more sustainable low-carbon society.
